Lenovo Mobile Access and Macheen: From One-Size, Off-the-Rack to Right-Size and Tailored

06.10.2012

Big day for Lenovo, big day for Macheen—and a big day for businesses and end users who need flexible, right-sized mobile connectivity options for all those non-phone devices that increasingly require constant connectivity to the Cloud.

Today we announced Lenovo as our newest Enrollment Partner on the Macheen Platform; Lenovo announced its new mobile broadband service, Lenovo Mobile Access, now embedded across the ThinkPad product line in the U.S. and nine European countries. You can read all of the details in our respective announcements, but here’s the gist—connectivity is going from “one-size-fits-all” and “off-the-rack,” to constantly connected devices with tailored access for any device, any application and any user.

The time is ripe for new connectivity models. Francis Sideco from iSuppli said it well: “…any mobile device without connectivity has one hand tied behind its back. This is driving the push for connectivity to become a standard feature for a growing list of devices. However, current data tariff models are limiting adoption of embedded wireless wide area networking connectivity. Solutions that help solve the current paradigm’s problems will be well positioned for growth moving forward.”

We wholeheartedly agree with Francis. Why should businesses or end users have to settle for all or nothing? Get what you need, pay for what you want.  That’s now possible. Constant, easy access for the user, comprehensive and customized management for IT.

It’s just one of many examples of what’s now possible, enabled by the Macheen platform. We’ll be sharing more with you in the weeks and months ahead.

  1. This is fascinating. I understand Macheen has responsibility for managing the relationships with the underlying network operators. I suspect that is 3 in the UK — probably Austria, Denmark, Ireland, and Italy as well. And Sprint in the US. But the SIM Card that makes that magic happen – where does that come from?

    • Mark….thanks. Indeed, the “logic” around the SIM card does add some magic. This is part of the Macheen platform plus, of course, working with enabling partners. Feel free to contact us for further information.
